The “La Nivelle Ladies Open” has been rescheduled and will now take place from the 9-11th June 2010 at Club de La Nivelle in Ciboure, Pyrénées Atlantiques, France.
The first tournament on the GENERALI Ladies Tour, originally organised for 11-13th February, had to be cancelled for safety reasons due to heavy snowfall.
Together, the Fédération Française de Golf (FFGolf), club de La Nivelle, the Promoter, FFGolf Production, title sponsor GENERALI and the Ladies European Tour (LET) decided that a new date was required to allow the players to compete in better tournament conditions.
The Board of the professional division of FFGolf, chaired by Michel Duplaix and composed of 16 members (including eight players, male and female), therefore decided upon the new date.
The Federation hopes to surpass the 66 players entered for the February contest, when there were 14 nationalities represented by the players, as the weather will be much more favourable, with longer hours of daylight.
Meanwhile, the GENERALI Ladies Tour will convene at the Terre Blanche Ladies Open, from 31st March until 2nd April, at Terre Blanche Golf Club in Tourrettes, near Fayence (Var).
As a partner and official insurer of the French Golf Federation for many years, Generali has provided the liability coverage for 400,000 golfers and has also been a partner of the Evian Masters for the past two years.
The company’s involvement in women’s golf has today been enhanced through the birth of the Generali Ladies Tour. In addition to providing an excellent challenge for young players, the Generali Ladies Tour will also provide a springboard to the top level. It will offer three professional golfers and three amateurs an invitation to compete in the Open de France Feminin from 9-12th September 2010. The Generali Ladies Tour will also provide the winner of its order of merit with a full-time place on the Ladies European Tour for 2011.
The Generali Ladies Tour forms part of the Ladies European Tour Access Series (LETAS), which is effectively the official feeder tour to the LET. The winner of the French professional circuit could very likely be found in Europe's elite in 2011.
The 2010 LETAS calendar is now as follows:
31 March-2nd April: Terre Blanche Ladies Open, Terre Blanche Golf Club (€25,000)
15-17 April: Dinard Ladies Open, Dinard Golf (€30,000)
9-11 June: La Nivelle Ladies Open, Golf de la Nivelle (€25,000)
