Getting to know Lauren Taylor

English LET rookie Lauren Taylor will be playing her debut season on the Ladies European Tour in 2014, starting with the Lalla Meryem Cup in Morocco. Like Holly Clyburn, the former British Ladies Amateur Champion started out by winning on the LET Access Series, at the Norrporten Ladies Open, two weeks before turning professional in September. Here we get to know the 19-year-old from Rugby a little better.

All about Lauren...

If you were stranded on a desert island, what three items would you take with you? Food, water and a helicopter so I could get off the island!

Tell us something you hate doing? Doing nothing because I get too bored.

If you could have an unlimited storage of one thing, what would it be? Chocolate mini eggs.

If given a complete freedom to start afresh, what profession would you choose and why? I would like to be a lawyer because it seems interesting and has a lot of income.

If given a choice to skip work for a day, how would you spend the entire day? Shopping with my friends.

What is your favourite activity you do when you want to relax? Ping pong.

 

Name something you consider yourself to be really good at (apart from golf)? Ping pong or badminton.

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would it be? Hawaii.

How do you spend your time in the airports? On my phone or chatting with my friends.

What's your favourite midnight snack? Popcorn.

What's the best piece of advice you have ever received? Everything will be alright in the end, and if it's not alright it's not the end.

What is the weirdest thing you have ever eaten? Frog's legs.

If you had one word to describe yourself, what would it be? Determined.

What do you consider your worst quality? And the best? My best one is that I'm a very caring person. But my worst is that I worry about things too much.

If you could eliminate one thing from your daily schedule, what would it be and why? The travelling part of my day.

Do you like cooking? What do you like to cook when you are at home with friends? Chicken stir fry or Chilli.

What is the quality you appreciate the most? Loyalty.

Where do you see yourself in the next five years? Competing on the LPGA and to have won a major.

Who is in your family? Martin Taylor (dad) Jackie Taylor (mum) Charlotte Taylor (sister) Margaret and Tommy Heather (grandparents).

Do you have any pets? No.

What's on your play list? New music and the old!

What's your favourite colour? Purple.

What perfume do you wear? Lacoste Pink.

What's your favourite food? Thai or English. Tutti Fruti ice-cream!

What's your secret? That I was born premature at 26 weeks and I had a twin called Chloe.

What's your favourite novel? The Hunger Games.

What's your favourite film? Olympus Has Fallen.

Who is your hero and inspiration? Tiger Woods.

What's your best memory so far? Winning the BBC Young Sports Personality of the Year in 2011.

What's your best golf achievement? Becoming the youngest ever winner of the British Ladies Amateur Championship in 2011.

What's your dream? To win the US Open.

What's your best golf tip? Keep your head still when putting.

What's the best part of your game? Driving.

Do you have any superstitions? No.

Who are you playing with in your dream foursome?Tiger Woods, Rory McIlroy and Gerard Butler.

Who is your favourite golfer and non-golf athlete? Tiger woods and Usian Bolt.

What's your favourite club in the bag? Driver.

What's your favourite golf course and clubhouse? Royal Portrush... because I won the British Ladies Amateur Championship in 2011 so I have great memories from there.

What's your favourite distance and shot you love to practice? 95 yards with my 52 degree wedge.

What's your lowest round ever? 9 under par at Rugby GC in 2010.

What was your first set of clubs? A Cobra half set

At what age did you reach a scratch handicap? 15.

At what age did you first break 70? 13.

What's your best golf shot to date? My chip in at the British Ladies Amateur Championship in 2011 to win 6&5 in the final.

What's your average driving distance and putting average? 240 yards and 31 putts.

How many holes in one have you had? 7.

Who is on your golf team? My coach Andy Dunbar; my trainer Drew Broughton and my dad, Martin Taylor.
