                                                                                           Johanna Gustavsson

Johanna Gustavsson produced another fine round of golf on the second day of the Ribeira Sacra Patrimonio de la Humanidad International Ladies Open. The Swede shot a matching 64, to sit at 12 under par, one ahead of Spain’s Eun Jung Ji Kim.

The Swede is feeling comfortable on the course this week, posting two bogey free rounds and producing 12 birdies over the course of her 36 holes. Good solid play has put her in the lead but a strong putting performance has been key.

“It was quite similar to yesterday really. Good drives, holed some good putts and in the end I struggled a bit more. I got tired in the end. In the last three holes, I holed three two metres putts for par, so that was nice being able to bring it in. I holed some long putts, so my putting felt good.”

It has been some time since Gustavsson led going into the final day but she does not plan to change anything for tomorrow’s round and why should she with her outstanding performance to this point.

Ji Kim was the clubhouse leader for most of the day, putting together a four under par 66, to sit two shots behind Gustavsson. The young Spanish player feels in control of her game this week and is growing in confidence, as the tournament progresses.

“The game played better than yesterday. The score was 4 under today but I played really solid from tee to green. I haven’t missed a single green. And the first nine holes I missed some putts for birdie but it was a great round. I missed some putts but I also made some putts, so it was good.”

Ji Kim has her father with her caddying this week, something she enjoys.

“It’s always good to have him and he really likes caddying. He’s a good caddy so it’s always nice to have him here.”

The 19-year-old is looking for her first win on the LET Access Series and feels the experience of playing this course last year stands her in good stead.

“I’m feeling comfortable because the course I knew from last year and this year I feel really comfortable out on the course and on the putting greens. I’m just going to go and do what I usually do, the same routines.”

France’s Astrid Vayson de Pradenne is a further shot back at 9 under par with rounds of 67 and 64. The 32-year-old will be looking for her second victory this season, already claiming the Jabra Ladies Open in France at the end of May.

Fellow countrywoman Manon Molle is two shots further back at seven under par after a second round 66, with Spain’s Noemi Jimenez at 6 under and fifth place on her own, with rounds of 66 and 68.

Forty-six professionals and 5 amateurs made the cut, which fell at 3 over, 143.
