Swedish Pair Lead at Scandic PGA Championship

It will be an all Swedish affair when the Scandic PGA Championship is decided tomorrow at the Allerum Golf Club.

Ahead of the third and decisive round, Maja Stark and Johanna Gustavsson share the lead on ten under par. The two Swedes have played together during the first two rounds and tomorrow they will be joined by Sofie Bringner who is two strokes behind the leading duo. Norwegian Tonje Daffinrud is also sitting at eight under par.

“It went well today, stable play and not very much happened. I finished -5, the first bogey of the competition came on the 17th hole. A little shame, but then I answered with birdie on the 18th hole so it was good,” said Gustavsson about her second round.

The 26-year-old talked about tomorrow's round and playing with Stark again.

“It feels great. We have a good time on the course and it feels good when everyone plays well, Rachel who we played with also played well. It will be fun to play again.”

Stark has made more bogeys than Gustavsson but also more birdies.

“It's far from flawless, but I made a lot of putts so it helps. A good day nonetheless, I hit a lot of greens. I had Fredrik with me today as a caddy, it's nice to have someone you know so well,” said Stark who had the women's team coach Fredrik Wetterstrand as her caddy.

Stark has two second places on the LET Access Series, most recently at the Anna Nordqvist Västerås Open by SmartProvider earlier in August.

“Very happy, it's a bit tough to come in second. I am happy to be able to play in a leading group, I just have to keep on trying and avoid my mistakes,” said Stark about trying to win.

Allerum Golf Club has presented an excellent test where many birdies can be made for anyone player who hits it straight from the tee.

The club has also shown that they can handle such a large event brilliantly. However, this is not surprising when Allerum was named Golf Club of the Year in Sweden this year by the Association of Golf Journalists.
