Local Favourite Caudal Leads The Way

Anne-Lise Caudal carded a second round 67 to lead the La Nivelle Ladies Open by two shots from fellow countrywoman Julie Maisongrosse. Caudal, 25, from Ciboure near Saint-Jean-de-Luz, who is competing on her home course, bogeyed the 172-yard par 3 before picking up five birdies in her last 12 holes to finish the day at 7 under par.

The young Frenchwoman is looking to claim her first professional title since securing her maiden win on the LET at the 2008 Portugal Ladies Open.

Julie Maisongrosse in just her second year as a professional, had set the early clubhouse lead, adding a one over par 71 to her fine 64 in the 1st round to lie at 5 under par. Marieke Nivard from the Netherlands shot a second round 72 to occupy third place at 2 under.

A further shot back at 1 under par is promising young rookie, France’s Lucie Andre with rounds of 69 and 70.

39 players made the cut for the final day, which fell at 9 over par. Play commences at 9am for the third round of the La Nivelle Ladies Open.
