Jade Schaeffer wins second LETAS title at the Trophée Preven’s

Jade Schaeffer captured her second LETAS title in only her third start on the circuit with a thrilling final round of seven-under-par 65 at the Trophée Preven’s near Paris.

Schaeffer added the title to the Dinard Ladies Open she won in April whist playing ‘at home’ at Golf de Bussy-Guermantes, a course which she uses as her training ground.

The 24-year-old, who was born on Reunion Island, carded seven birdies on the final day to take the title by three strokes from Denmark’s Julie Tvede and finished in style with three birdies in a row.

The fourth year Ladies European Tour star finished on an eight-under-par total, having started the day in third place, four strokes off the lead.

Despite the fact that both Schaeffer and fellow Frenchwoman Caroline Afonso have both won two tournaments each after four events played on the LETAS, Afonso still leads the Order of Merit with 16,300 points.

Schaeffer holds a tournament winner’s exemption category on the Ladies European Tour, after claiming her first LET title at the HypoVereinsbank Ladies German Open, presented by Audi, in Munich in 2009.

First round leader Camille Fallay finished in third place on two-under-par, with fellow Frenchwoman Barbara Genuini in fourth at level par. Afonso tied for fifth with England’s Holly Aitchison on one-over-par.

The LET Access Series is the second division tour for women golfers aspiring to compete on the Ladies European Tour, which began with three tournaments earlier this season in France, comprising the GENERALI Ladies Tour 2010.

The final LETAS tournament will take place at La Manga Club in Murcia, Spain, from November 18-20, following which a full card for the Ladies European Tour in 2011 will be awarded. Four players from the LET Access Series Order of Merit not already exempt will also progress directly to LET Final Qualifying School at La Manga Club in Spain.
