Scotland’s Michelle Thomson leads the field of 124 players contesting the Borås Ladies Open in Sweden this week. The tournament gets under way from Friday to Sunday at Böras Golf Club.
The 28-year-old from Aberdeen is currently lying second on the LETAS ranking with 8520 points. Thomson will be hoping to go one better than her second place finish at the Ribeira Sacra Patrimonio de la Humanidad International Ladies Open in Spain last month.
The Scot will be joined in the field by Spain's Luna Sobron who sits in third on the LETAS Order of Merit, following her win at the opening event of the season, the Terre Blanche Ladies Open in France.
The large Swedish contingent of 60 players is joined by top amateur Linn Andersson, who won the 2013 Kristianstad Ahus Ladies PGA Open, becoming the youngest winner on the LET Access Series. Twenty-four Swedish amateurs will attempt to emulate Andersson this week, with local favourite Johanna Larsson looking to improve on her 24th place finish in this event last season.
"I am really looking forward to the Borås Ladies Open. It is my first tournament in Sweden this season so it's going to be good fun. It's very special to play at my home course. The surroundings are familiar, you know the people that work there and the people that are coming out to watch, which is a great feeling."
"I have played several Nordea and LETAS tournaments before. I am currently playing college golf so I always play a couple professional tournaments when I'm home during the summer. One of my goals is just to really enjoy the week. Enjoy being at home and playing golf in Sweden again."
At the close of the 2016 LETAS season, the top five players on the 2016 Ranking will earn membership of the Ladies European Tour, while players in sixth to 20th positions will have the opportunity to progress to the final stage of Lalla Aicha Tour School for 2017.
