It was a rainy day at Allerum Golf Club for the first round of the Turfman Allerum Ladies Open. England’s Hayley Davis seemed unaffected by the difficult conditions, producing a bogey free round, out in 34 and back in 32 for a six under par, 66.

“I just played solid. I hit it really good off the tee. Just got myself into really good positions out there. It was quite wet but that made the greens quite soft so I could attack most of the pins. I hit 17 greens so that helped. I birdied the first so I started playing well from the beginning really,” said Davis.

Three Swedish players, Johanna Gustavsson, Frida Gustafsson-Spång and Therese Nerpin are tied for second place at 4 under, alongside England’s Rachel Goodall.

Gustavsson, a winner earlier this year on LETAS in Spain, commented, “The field is strong, there are many European Tour players here, and many talented Swedes. It was raining constantly when I was playing. You do not win any competitions on the first or the second day.”

The Swede’s main focus, heading into the final part of the 2018 season, is to retain her card on the LET.  To do that she must be among the 80 best when the season is over. Right now Gustavsson is in the 83rd place on the LET rankings.

Fellow Swedes Lynn Carlsson and Jessica Karlsson are tied for 6th place at three under par, with rounds of 69.

Weather conditions are expected to be better tomorrow with play commencing at 8.00.
